NEW – NEWs: In January and February 2018 we introduce a new generation of Pods, insulated pods. This new generation is much warmer than the log pods and suitable for the Icelandic winter. This pod DEVELOPMENT will continue with addition of increased kitchen facility and more pods.
Think of a pod as a replacement for your tent with an added facilities. You’ll need to bring sleeping bag, but get an added luxury of space, warmth, dryness, electricity plus basic facilities, table and chairs and a bed with good mattress to sleep in. The pods have a electrical radiators, lights, sockets and WiFi and they are a sleeping bag accommodation. This means that guest bring their own sleeping bags. If not, guests can rent bed linen package, a pillow, duvet, sheets and towel at Fossatún reception. One price – not pr. night. It is not advisable for guests to sleep in the pods with only thin blankets or carpets.
In the service house are showers, changing rooms and toilets (open 24/7) and hot tubs (open from 16-23). Guests also get key to a kitchen facility, which includes a fridge, microwave, stove, tea kettle, coffee machine, pots and pans, dishes, glasses, cutlery etc. and a dining area. Also guest can rent access to a washing machine and dryer. Check in is from 15 – 19 – Check out 08 – 11
The camping pod is a comfortable accommodation for two people. The pods are log huts, they are heated but not insulated. The heaters keep them warm if outside temperature is in plus on Celsius. During frost periods and windy situations, inside temperature can go below normal house temperature.
Fossatún is surrounded by magnificent nature. Nice hikes are in the area. Fossatún is centrally located in the West Region of Iceland and ideal place to explore the area from and well situated for Northern Lights.
